Greetings from India!

Here are some of the highlights of my adventures since I last wrote…

I was hoping to live in a tree house in India, and although I don’t live in a tree, the semi-permeable building I sleep in is called “the tree house”! Last Thursday I went to a beach village and did some tsunami relief work by helping clean the beach and tearing down houses that were half torn down by the water. This was an interesting experience to be able to work with a lot of people who have come from so many countries to help with relief work and to have the villagers watching us work. On Sunday we took our first trip into Pondicherry. It seemed like I was walking through a street fair, which was really fun. At the Ganesh Temple, I was blessed by an elephant! This Monday I started my internship at Kottakari Organic Food Processing Unit (KOFPU), which is very exciting. I get to help make and package food… I have made bowtie pasta from scratch, baked cakes, skinned peanuts to make peanut butter, and packaged & labeled some of the finished products to go to a store. The woman who runs KOFPU, Anandi, is an amazing woman. She is nice to be around and is teaching me a lot about Tamil culture. Luv to ya! Tanya image image
