Weblog for Mexico: Leadership for Social Change at Huehuecoyotl - January 2005

Long and wonderful day

The day began for several students before the rest of us got up. The adventurers climbed the hill behind Huehue to watch the sun rise and look down on Huehue from above.

Then we loaded onto a local bus and took the half hour trip to Tepoztlan. What a colorful puebla?
Of course, we were there to work. We met a local environmental group, Tepoz-Eco.

After a terrific Mexican lunch we each wondered around a bit (shopping of course) before we took the bus back to the hills. The small village near Huehue is called Santa Domingo Ocotitlan, where we experienced a more rural village culture. Here are most of the students outside of the local churchyard.

Most of us walked the mile back to Huehue, where we will eat and probably go to bed early! Long day, but wonderful.
