A published folk music composer and martial arts instructor for 7 years, Rob
began leading backpacking trips to theSouthwest in high school, attended the
Audubon Expedition Institute, and then went on to study Geology and Ecology in
college. This was followed by a masters degree in education and a
qualification to teach secondary Earth Science. He worked for a few years as a
geologist at an environmental engineering firm; and worked for quite a few
years as a carpenter, contractor, and woodworker, ultimately running his own
contracting business. An opportunity to try his hand at CAD draftsmanship led
him away from the job site and into the office where he worked as a draftsman
for a few years. This, in turn, led to a deep interest in computers,
programming, and system administration where he happily remains riveted to this
very day. He is ecstatic to be the father of two and the husband of one.
